A Fall Update

It’s been nearly two months since my last update. September was nuts — like I am sure many of you personally experienced. While many people were going back to school and began their fall routines, Haiti was also attempting to do that as well. As many of you know, we help send children to school in Haiti and one of the ways we do that is through the one-time gifts given to us on behalf of children in Haiti. This year was so fun as we had an ‘immersive classroom experience’ and we got to meet so many local Haitians and new friends.

A huge thank you to those who gave, attended, and helped out with the event at Buster’s in September! It was such a blast.

September was also special because we were able to work on a project that we are launching with two other partners in the USA and Canada, Konbit Collective. We are planning for our launch on November 1, so keep your eyes peeled!

September was also so special because of Konbit Kids, a small group of kids in the Daphne, AL area. Some amazing kids and their parents got together to raise over $2,000 for kids in Haiti. They sold their homemade baked goods, salsa, scrunchies, bracelets, and MORE. We cannot say thank you enough for the amazing turnout and support. PEOPLE CAN MAKE BIG CHANGE, and this was such a perfect example of this.

(and thanks to Laura Rowe for these great pics!)

We also were able to share with a few of our supporting churches and a French class. Thanks to those of you who listened, took time to understand, and care! We appreciate it so much.

Currently, Haiti is going through a tough time. It is a problem that has been boiling for over a year now and has progressed into a full-blown issue in the country. If you have any interest in learning about the complex problems this nation is facing, please watch this video. It explains things really well.

We are spending this month building awareness and advocating for the needs of Haiti, as well as getting ready to launch the Collective. If you have an event you’d like for us to speak at, please let us know.

While there is so much going on in Haiti, we are also so proud of our staff and partners. They’ve done so much to stand firm in the face of adversity. We are so thankful for them and for you who have stood with us. We are unsure of when we are returning to Haiti because of the gas shortages and my (Steph’s) need for gas for the AC after my heatstroke. We want to make sure we are not a burden on the Haitian economy and needs and can instead be a presence of help and encouragement.

Last night, we had an awesome Bootcamp with OM Personal Training. Thanks to those who showed up! Please keep posted on our Instagram and Facebook page for more info about how you can support Haiti from where you are.
